Betsy Brandt (born March 14, 1973) is an American actress. She is well-known for playing Marie Schrader in the TV show Breaking Bad. This was a crime drama series on AMC that ran from 2008 to 2013. She also starred as Heather Hughes on the CBS sitcom Life in Pieces from 2015 to 2019.
Early Life
Betsy Brandt grew up in Bay City, Michigan. Her family has German roots. She finished high school at Bay City Western High School in Auburn, Michigan, in 1991.
From a young age, Betsy was interested in theater. At first, she wanted to direct plays more than act in them. But after getting the main role in a high school play called Exit the Body, she decided to focus on acting.
Brandt went to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She earned a degree in acting in 1996. She also studied acting at Harvard University and in Scotland. After college, she moved to Seattle, Washington. There, she acted in plays and short films. Her first short film was Confidence in 1998. Later, she moved to Los Angeles to continue her acting career.
Acting Career

Betsy Brandt has acted in many plays. Some of these include Much Ado About Nothing and The Language Archive. She has also appeared as a guest star on popular TV shows. These include Without a Trace, Judging Amy, ER, Boston Legal, The Practice, and NCIS.
From 2008 to 2013, Brandt played Marie Schrader in the AMC drama series Breaking Bad. She tried out for three different roles before getting the part of Marie. In 2012, she joined the cast of Parenthood as Sandy.
Brandt also played Annie Henry on The Michael J. Fox Show, which started in September 2013. People really liked her performance in this show. She later returned to play Marie Schrader in the final episode of the spin-off series Better Call Saul.
In 2014, Brandt was chosen for a main role in an ABC series called Members Only. However, this show was never released.
From 2015 to 2019, she starred as Heather Short Hughes in the CBS comedy series Life in Pieces. The show ran for four seasons before it ended. In 2020, Brandt was set to play Cleo in a new NBC comedy pilot called Jefferies. This pilot has not yet been shown on TV.
Personal Life
Betsy Brandt is married to Grady Olsen. He also went to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. They have two children together. Her second child was born in 2008, while she was filming the second season of Breaking Bad. Betsy and her family live in Los Angeles.
On June 6, 2010, Brandt was honored by her old high school. She was named the 2010 Distinguished Alumnus at Bay City Western High School. She also gave a speech at the graduation ceremony.
