Beulah Dark Cloud (also known as Beulah Tahamont) was a talented Native American actress. She was known for her roles in several silent films. Many of these movies were directed by the famous filmmaker D. W. Griffith.
About Beulah Dark Cloud
Beulah Dark Cloud was born on March 28, 1887. Her birth name was Beulah T. Filson. She was born in Lake George, New York. Her parents were Elijah "Dark Cloud" Tahamont and Margaret "Soaring Dove" Camp. They were both members of the Abenaki tribe.
Beulah received most of her education in Montreal, Canada. She started performing at a very young age. In 1901, she enrolled at P.S. 45 in New York City. She was believed to be the first Native American student to attend public schools there.
Her Acting Career
Around 1912, Beulah and her father moved to Los Angeles, California. They went there to work in movies. They appeared in films directed by D. W. Griffith. Griffith was a very important director in the early days of cinema.
Beulah continued acting for some time. However, she eventually had to stop due to health reasons. She retired from her acting career.
Beulah Dark Cloud passed away on December 29, 1945. She was 58 years old. She died in Thermolite, California.
