Bevan, Ohio facts for kids
Bevan is a small place in Washington County, which is in the state of Ohio in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually governed by the county it's in.
A Look at Bevan's Past
Bevan got its name from the Bevan brothers, who were important people in the area. They ran a general store there, which was a place where people could buy all sorts of things, from food to tools. In 1897, a post office was opened in Bevan. This was a big deal because it made it easier for people in the community to send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years, finally closing its doors in 1932.
