Beverly Crawford is a famous American gospel singer. She was born Beverly Renae Camps on August 31, 1963. Many people know her from singing with the New Life Singers. This group was on the TV show Bobby Jones Gospel on Black Entertainment Television (BET). She is also known for her popular songs like "He's Done Enough" and "It's About Time For A Miracle".

Early Life of Beverly Crawford

Beverly Crawford was born in Gainesville, Florida, on August 31, 1963. She was the sixth of seven children. Her parents were Bishop Walter Camps and Nellie Camps. Beverly started singing very young, at just three years old. She sang with her sisters in a group called the Camp Sisters. Her siblings are Walter Jr., Alfred, Marilyn, Belinda, Terrilyn, and Evelyn.

Beverly Crawford's Music Career

Starting Her Journey in Gospel Music

In the late 1980s, Beverly's husband, Todd Crawford, made a video of her and her sisters singing. He sent it to several gospel music companies. Only Bobby Jones Gospel replied. Bobby Jones was very impressed with the sisters. He invited them to sing on his TV show.

After a few visits, Bobby Jones asked Beverly to join his group, New Life. The New Life group included women like Emily Harris, Angela Primm, Nuana Dunlap, and Franchine Smith. Later, Roberta Higgs also joined the group. Beverly sang with Dr. Jones and New Life until 1997.

Becoming a Solo Artist

Beverly was a favorite singer on Bobby Jones Gospel from 1990 to 1997. She started her solo career in 1995. Her first album was Jesus, Precious King, released by Warner Alliance Records. Three years later, in 1998, she released Now That I'm Here. This album had popular songs like "Just As Soon (I'll Be Shouting)". In 1999, Now That I'm Here was even nominated for a Grammy Award!

In 2001, Beverly released an album called Beverly with Dexterity Records. This label belonged to the well-known minister Bishop T.D. Jakes. In 2003, she released Live Family and Friends. This album was recorded live in a church setting. It featured songs like "Higher in the Lord" and "Hold On". Other famous singers like Bobby Jones, Shirley Murdock, and Melvin Williams also appeared on the album. Her daughter, Latrina Crawford, sang on it too.

Hit Songs and Awards

In 2007, Beverly released her fifth album, Live from Los Angeles. This album was on the JDI label. It included her number one hit song, "He's Done Enough". This song stayed on the top ten lists for over a year.

In January 2009, Beverly won her first Stellar Gospel Music Award. She won "Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year" for her 2007 album. On September 19, 2009, she recorded her next album live in Los Angeles. It was called Live from Los Angeles - Volume 2. This album was released on September 14, 2010. It featured the hit single "It's About Time for a Miracle". In 2012, she won her second Stellar Gospel Music Award for this record. Again, she won "Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year".

Her most recent album is "Thank You For All You've Done". It was released in May 2014 on JDI. This album debuted at number one on the Gospel Music Billboard Charts. It includes the popular song "Sweeping Through The City".

Beverly Crawford's Personal Life

In November 1982, Beverly married Todd Eugene Crawford. They have two children: a daughter named Latrina, born in 1983, and a son named Todd Jr., born in 1995. Beverly and Todd are also co-pastors at her father's church. The church is called The Landmark Holy Temple of God, Inc.

Her father, Bishop Walter Camps, married Wilma Reid in 1988. This was after his first wife, Mrs. Nellie Mae McCloud, passed away. In December 2007, Bishop Walter Camps passed away after a long illness.
