Bhotu Pande, also called Shatrubhanjan, was born in 1763. He was a key figure in the Kingdom of Nepal. He worked as a politician, a military leader, and a courtier. A courtier is someone who serves in the royal court. Bhotu Pande belonged to the Gora Pande family from Gorkha. He was the youngest son of Kaji Tularam Pande. Tularam Pande had five sons, including Jagajit Pande, Ranajit Pande, and Bhotu Pande.

His Work as a Kapardar
Bhotu Pande served as a Kapardar in the royal palace. A Kapardar was a high-ranking official. They managed royal finances and supplies. This role was very important for the king and the government.
Military Service and the Sino-Nepalese War
Bhotu Pande was also a military officer. He played a part in the Sino-Nepalese War. This war was a conflict between Nepal and Tibet, supported by China. It happened in the late 1700s. His military skills were important during this time.
His Legacy and Family
You can find a statue of Bhotu Pande in a building. This building is located south of Pashupatinath. The statue shows him with a beard. Bhotu Pande had a son named Balabhanjan Pande. Balabhanjan was appointed as a Sardar. A Sardar was a military commander. He was given land and money to support his duties. He had to keep 22 soldiers and one cannon ready for service.
