Celebrating Australia's Bicentenary
The park was created in the 1980s by the Australian and New South Wales governments. It was part of the celebrations for Australia's 200th birthday in 1988.
From Rubbish Dump to Park
Before it was a park, part of this land was actually an old rubbish dump! The project turned about 47 hectares of this old dump into a fun recreation area. They also worked to protect 53 hectares of important wetlands along the Parramatta River. The park officially opened its doors on January 1, 1988.
