Big Cook, Little Cook is a fun TV show from the United Kingdom. It's made for younger children, but it's all about cooking and imagination! The show takes place in a busy café kitchen. Here, you'll meet two friendly chefs: Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small.

Ben is a regular-sized adult, but Small is tiny, only a few inches tall! He zooms around the kitchen on a wooden spoon. Steve Marsh plays Big Cook Ben, and Dan Wright plays Little Cook Small. The show first aired in 2004 on BBC channels, especially CBeebies.

How the Show Works

Each episode of Big Cook, Little Cook starts with Ben and Small doing something fun or trying to solve a small problem. Soon, a special customer arrives at their café door. This customer is usually a character from a nursery rhyme, a fairy tale, or another well-known story.

Little Cook Small likes to give hints about who the customer is. Once the customer is revealed, Small tells a short, funny story about them. He always ends his stories by saying he was the real hero!

Next, Ben and Small decide to cook a meal for their guest. They pick a recipe from Ben's big recipe book. Then, they gather all the ingredients from their kitchen: the fridge, freezer, cupboard, fruit bowl, or vegetable basket. If they're missing an ingredient, or if they want to know how something is made, Small flies off on his "spoon-mobile." He visits places like a chutney factory or a rice field to learn more!

After Small returns with the ingredient or information, the chefs sing a catchy song. They remind everyone watching what ingredients are needed for the recipe. Then, they start cooking! While they prepare the food, Big Cook Ben always reminds viewers to ask a "grown-up helper" for help. This is especially important when using knives or electrical appliances.

Once the delicious meal is ready, they serve it to their customer. Then, they sing another song about cleaning up the kitchen. As a thank you for the meal, the customer gives Ben and Small a special gift. This gift always helps them solve the problem they had at the beginning of the episode! The show encourages kids to enjoy cooking and learn about different foods. Some of the scenes where Little Cook flies were filmed over Skipton, North Yorkshire.
