Keith Carter (born February 26, 1970 – died February 3, 2016) was an American hip-hop DJ. He was better known by his stage names Big Kap and The Wardin. He was born in New York City and later lived in Atlanta.
Big Kap's Music Career
In 1995, Big Kap joined a hip hop supergroup called The Flip Squad. A supergroup is a music group made up of members who are already famous from other bands or solo careers.
He became very well known for his 1999 album, The Tunnel. He made this album with another famous DJ, Funkmaster Flex. The album was named after a popular nightclub in New York where Big Kap often worked as a DJ.
Big Kap passed away on February 3, 2016, in Mableton, Georgia, due to a sudden health issue. He was 45 years old. He was supposed to perform at a show in Atlanta on the day he died. After his passing, the event became a special memorial to honor him.
Big Kap is also remembered for a video that became very popular online in 2011. This video showed the famous rapper The Notorious B.I.G. throwing a water bottle at Big Kap during a concert in 1995.
