Big Run, Ohio facts for kids
Big Run is a small place in Athens County, Ohio. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Big Run
Big Run has an interesting history! A long time ago, in 1856, a post office opened there. This was a big deal because it helped people send and receive letters. The post office stayed open until 1907.
The community got its name from a nearby stream called Big Run creek. Back then, Big Run was also home to a railroad station. This station was on the Marietta and Cincinnati Railroad line. Railroads were super important for travel and moving goods. There was also a country store where people could buy everyday things.
