How Big hART Started
Big hART was created in 1992. It was founded by a writer and director named Scott Rankin and John Bakes. They started it in Burnie, a town in north-western Tasmania.
The main goal was to help people in the town. Many mills had closed, which caused problems like job loss and an increase in crime. Big hART wanted to use art to make things better.
What Big hART Does
Big hART creates big, long-term projects. These projects help communities that face challenges. They work in cities, regional areas, and remote parts of Australia.
Their projects help people get more involved in their community. This includes social, cultural, and economic activities. They follow a special three-step plan to achieve their goals.
