Philip Brandon Martin (born October 31, 1978), who is better known by his stage name Bishop Lamont, is an American rapper from Carson, California. He was signed to the famous record label Aftermath Entertainment, which was founded by the legendary producer Dr. Dre. After working with the label for several years, he left in 2010 to pursue his career independently.

Early Life and Career

Born in Inglewood, California, Philip Martin began rapping when he was 13 years old. His big break came in 2005 when he met Dr. Dre during the filming of a music video for the rapper The Game. Dr. Dre was impressed with Martin's talent and signed him to Aftermath Entertainment.

Before he was even officially signed, Martin was featured in The Source magazine's "Unsigned Hype" section, which highlights promising new artists. By the time the magazine was published, he was already part of the Aftermath team.
