Curtis Eugene Cross (born August 14, 1983), known by his stage name Black Milk, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is famous for creating his own unique style of music by mixing hip hop, electronic, and soul sounds.

Musical Journey

Black Milk started his career in the early 2000s in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. He quickly became known for his skill in making beats and writing lyrics. He has worked with many famous artists, including J Dilla, RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, and Danny Brown.

Early Career and First Albums

In 2004, Black Milk formed a group called B.R. Gunna with his friends Young RJ and Fat Ray. They released an album called Dirty District: Vol. 2. This project helped him get noticed in the music world.

A year later, in 2005, he released his first solo album, Sound of the City, Vol. 1. This led to him signing a deal with Fat Beats Records. In 2007, he released his second album, Popular Demand, which helped him gain even more fans.

Growing as an Artist

In 2008, Black Milk was very busy. He released two albums: The Set Up with Fat Ray and his third solo album, Tronic. He also produced most of the music for the album The Preface by fellow Detroit rapper Elzhi.

His fourth album, Album of the Year, came out in 2010. It featured popular songs like "Keep Going" and "Deadly Medley." The music video for "Deadly Medley" also featured rappers Royce da 5'9" and Elzhi.

In 2011, Black Milk worked with Jack White, a famous rock musician from The White Stripes. Together, they released a special single called "Brain."

Recent Work

Black Milk continued to release new music that explored different sounds. In 2013, his album No Poison No Paradise came out. It featured many guest artists, including Black Thought from the famous band The Roots.

In 2014, he released an EP (a short album) called Glitches in the Break. Later that year, his sixth album, If There's a Hell Below, was released. It included collaborations with music legends like Pete Rock.

Since then, Black Milk has continued to create music, releasing albums like Fever in 2018 and Everybody Good? in 2023. He is known for always trying new things and pushing the boundaries of hip hop music.
