The Story of Black Child
Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Ramel Gill was born in Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to Queens when he was young. When he was about 11 years old, a family friend helped him start writing rap verses. This motivated him to write his own rhymes as he grew up.
Black Child faced some challenges early in his life. During a difficult period, he focused on writing raps and practicing his skills in freestyle battles. This helped him develop his unique talent for music.
Joining Murder Inc. Records
In 1993, Black Child signed with Jam Master Jay Records, a label owned by the famous DJ Jam Master Jay. Before this, he was already making music with other rising artists. One of these artists was Irv Gotti, who was known as DJ Irv at the time. Irv Gotti produced a song for Jay-Z. Black Child also worked with Ja Rule on early songs.
After a few years, Black Child connected with Ja Rule again. He showed Ja Rule his strong lyrical abilities. Ja Rule then introduced Black Child to Irv Gotti. Both Ja Rule and Irv Gotti were very impressed. In 1999, Black Child officially signed with Murder Inc. Records.
His first big appearance was on Ja Rule's first album, Venni Vetti Vecci, in 1999. He was featured on songs like The Murderers and We Here Now. He also appeared in the music video for the remix of Murda 4 Life.
