The Black Watch Armoury is a special building in Montreal, Canada. It was finished in 1906. An armoury is a place where soldiers train and keep their equipment. This building was made for the 5th Regiment "Royal Highlanders of Canada," which is now known as the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada.

The building has a unique look, called Scottish baronial style. This means it looks a bit like an old Scottish castle. Two architects, Samuel Arnold Finley and David Jerome Spence, designed it. Because of its importance, the armoury was named a National Historic Site of Canada in 2008. This means it's a place that is very important to Canada's history.

History of the Armoury

The Black Watch Armoury has seen some interesting events over the years.

Incidents and Protests

In May 1963, the outside of the armoury was slightly damaged during a time of unrest in Montreal. Later, in March 1983, there was another small incident involving objects thrown at the building.

In 2009, a protest took place outside the armoury. About 200 people gathered during a Remembrance Day visit by Charles, Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. Remembrance Day is a special day when people remember soldiers who have served their country. The protest caused some disruption to the visit.
