Blackburn River facts for kids
The Blackburn River is a river located on West Falkland, which is one of the main islands in the Falkland Islands. This river is found in the northern part of West Falkland and flows into a body of water called Byron Sound.
The name "Blackburn River" is a bit interesting because it uses two words that mean almost the same thing. This is called a tautology. The word "burn" is an old word from Scotland and Northern England that means a small river or a large stream. So, "Blackburn River" basically means "Black River River"!
