Blart III: The Boy Who Set Sail on a Questionable Quest is an exciting children's novel published in 2008. It was written by Dominic Barker. This book is the third adventure in the popular Blart series. It continues the story from Blart: The Boy Who Didn't Want to Save the World and Blart II: The Boy Who Was Wanted Dead or Alive - Or Both. Critics have called the book "ridiculously enjoyable" and "hilarious."

Plot Summary: Blart's New Adventure

This story begins right after the second book ends. Blart is in danger while sleeping. Two attackers try to surprise him. Luckily, Blart reacts in his dream and knocks them out. Just then, the Gigantic Bell of Disaster rings. This special bell only rings during a huge national emergency. It hadn't rung before because its clapper (the part that makes it ring) was being fixed.

A Royal Emergency: Princess Lois is Missing!

Blart quickly rushes to the throne room. His friend, Sir Beowulf the Knight (or Beo), joins him. Beo has just become a knight, which was his big dream. The King and Queen of Illyria speak to the crowd. They announce that Princess Lois was kidnapped during the night. This event starts a scary prediction. It's called "The Chilling Prophecy of Endless Torment."

The Chilling Prophecy of Endless Torment

The prophecy says that if the newly-married princess disappears for one month, Illyria will face doom. To save the kingdom, Blart, her husband, must bring her back before the month ends. If he succeeds, Illyria will be safe. However, the prophecy also says Blart must die. Naturally, Blart doesn't want to go on a quest that will lead to his death.

Capablanca's Illness and the Assassins

Capablanca, the greatest sorcerer, is very sick. He was given a bad potion by the Guild of Assassins. Because he's ill, he can't go with Blart on this dangerous quest. Blart and Beo go back to Blart's room. They want to question the two attackers. But the attackers have woken up and are trying to escape! Beo and Blart manage to catch one, Mika. The other one, Uri, gets away.

Mika's Confession and a Second Prophecy

Blart and Beo drag Mika to Capablanca's room. Capablanca is being treated by the Court Physician, Lowenthal. Mika confesses everything. It turns out there's another prophecy. This one is about the kingdom of Styxia. It says the people of Gregor the Grizzled's kingdom will revolt. They will overthrow the royal family and create a new government.

The Styxian royal family could only be saved if Prince Anatoly, Gregor's son, married Princess Lois. But Princess Lois refused to marry him. She was already married to Blart, which happened to fulfill a prophecy from the previous book.

The King's Devious Plan

The King of Illyria decided to kidnap Princess Lois himself. He also offered a huge reward to the Guild of Assassins to capture Blart. He even arranged for Capablanca to get sick. He thought Capablanca would stop his plan. Beo was not seen as a big threat, which made Beo quite annoyed.

After hearing Mika's confession, Capablanca became confused again.

Capablanca's Secret Plan Revealed

Beo and Blart tell the King what they learned. They also repeat some strange words Capablanca said: "soup," "earwig," "hamster," "promise," and "suitors." The last two words remind the King of a plan Capablanca had made.

Before any nobleman could ask to marry Princess Lois, they had to make a serious promise. They swore to protect Princess Lois's marriage with all their might. Princess Lois had refused 75 noblemen. This means 75 noblemen around the world are now sworn to defend her marriage!

The Greatest Fleet Ever Seen

Messengers are sent to all these noblemen. They are asked to bring a ship full of armed men to the Illyrian harbor. This will create the biggest fleet ever! Illyria's new main ship will lead this huge armada. Blart, Princess Lois's husband, will be its captain. The fleet will sail to Styxia. They will surround the capital city until the Princess is returned.

Before they leave, Capablanca gives Blart a special item. It's the Misty Mirror of Miracle. Sometimes, this mirror clears up and shows things far away. After a funny moment where Blart names the new ship "The Golden Pig," they set sail for Styxia.
