What the Apple Looks Like and Tastes Like

The skin of a Blenheim Orange apple is usually greenish-yellow. It can also be orange with red stripes. This apple has a unique taste, often described as nutty. It is excellent for cooking because it becomes a fine puree when heated. It does not stay in slices.

The Blenheim Orange apple contains about 12% sugar. It also has 11 grams of acid per liter. For every 100 grams of apple, there is about 12 milligrams of vitamin C.

About the Blenheim Orange Tree

The Blenheim Orange apple tree is very strong and grows quickly. It is a type of apple called a triploid variety. This means it has three sets of chromosomes instead of two.

On a regular rootstock, the tree can grow taller than 30 feet. It takes a while for the tree to start producing fruit. However, once it does, it will produce a lot of apples. Gardeners often need to thin out the fruit. This helps control its habit of producing heavily only every other year. This is called biennial bearing.
