A Look Back at Bloomfield's History

Bloomfield has a history that goes back many years. In 1845, the area was "platted." This means someone drew up a map showing how the land would be divided into streets, blocks, and lots for buildings.

Before that, in 1834, a post office was opened in Bloomfield. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for a long time, until it closed its doors in 1914.
