Bloomington has an interesting history! It was first established in 1842 and was known by a different name: Lewisville. Imagine a time when this area was just starting to grow.
A few years later, in 1847, a post office was opened here. This was a big deal because it made it easier for people to send and receive letters and packages. At this time, the community officially took on the name Bloomington. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1906.
