Blue Star Contemporary is a special art place in San Antonio, Texas. It's a non-profit, which means it focuses on art, not making money. A group of artists started it in 1986. They were inspired by a very popular art show called the Blue Star Exhibition. This show displayed amazing art by local artists in an old warehouse. Today, Blue Star Contemporary is also known as BSC. Mary Heathcott is the Executive Director who helps run everything.

What is Blue Star Contemporary?

Blue Star Contemporary is located in a cool, updated warehouse. This warehouse is part of the Blue Star Arts Complex. This complex is a lively area with homes, art galleries, and shops. You can also find artist studios and restaurants there. BSC is in the King Williams Cultural Arts District. This neighborhood is called Southtown. It is also right next to the famous San Antonio River Walk.

Art and Community Events

Blue Star Contemporary is a big part of San Antonio's First Friday Art Walk. This event happens on the first Friday of every month. It's a free way to see art from the San Antonio community. Many people say Blue Star Contemporary helped bring new life to the arts district. It also helped the neighborhoods around it. Contemporary Art Month (CAM) started at this museum. CAM is a month-long celebration of local art in San Antonio. It takes place every July.
