Robert Alfred Clarke (born January 8, 1903 – died January 1971) was a talented American baseball player. People called him "Eggie." He played as a catcher and also worked as a manager. Clarke played in the Negro leagues from the 1920s to the 1940s.

Bob Clarke's Baseball Journey
Bob Clarke was born in Richmond, Virginia. He started his baseball career in 1922. His first team was the Richmond Giants. This was part of the Negro leagues.
Playing in the Negro Leagues
The Negro leagues were professional baseball leagues in the United States. They were formed when African American players were not allowed to play in Major League Baseball. Many amazing players, like Bob Clarke, played in these leagues.
Baltimore Black Sox
In 1923, Clarke joined the Baltimore Black Sox. He played with them for many years, until 1932. He was a key player for the team during this time.
New York Black Yankees
From 1933 to 1940, Clarke played for the New York Black Yankees. He was not just a player. In 1936 and 1937, he also served as the team's player-manager. This meant he played and also made decisions for the team. In 1940, he was chosen to play in the East–West All-Star Game. This was a special game for the best players in the Negro leagues.
Baltimore Elite Giants
After his time with the Black Yankees, Clarke moved to the Baltimore Elite Giants. He played with them from 1941 to 1946. He continued to show his skills as a catcher.
Final Season
Bob Clarke finished his baseball career in 1948. He returned to the New York Black Yankees for a short time. He passed away in Newark, New Jersey, in 1971. He was 67 or 68 years old.
