How Bobs Candies Started

Bobs Candies began a long time ago in 1919. It was founded in a city called Albany, Georgia, in the United States. An investor named Robert E. McCormack started the company. At first, it was called the Famous Candy Company. In 1924, he changed the name to Bobs' Candy Company. Later, the apostrophe was dropped, making it Bobs Candy Company. Today, Bobs Candies is known as the biggest maker of striped candy in the world!

Amazing Candy Inventions

Robert McCormack was very innovative. He was the first candy maker to wrap his candies in cellophane. This helped keep the candies fresh and clean.

His family also helped invent new machines. In 1952, a family member created a machine that could twist and cut stick candy. This was a big step forward! Just one year later, in 1953, they invented another machine. This new machine could bend the stick candy into the shape of a cane. This special machine was called the Keller Machine. It completely changed the candy business. It made it possible to make candy canes in large amounts for everyone to enjoy.

Who Owns Bobs Candies Now?

The McCormack family owned Bobs Candies for many years. Then, in 2005, another company bought Bobs. This company was called Farley & Sathers. A few years later, in 2012, Farley & Sathers joined with Ferrara Pan. Together, they became the Ferrara Candy Company. So, now Bobs Candies is a proud part of the Ferrara Candy Company.
