Boca Del Mar is a community located in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. It is an unincorporated place, which means it is not officially part of a city. However, it is very close to Boca Raton and is often thought of as part of that city. In 2000, about 21,832 people lived there.
Boca Del Mar was first planned in 1969. It was originally going to be called "Boca Granada." The Behring Development Company, which had built other communities, started the project. The name was changed to Boca Del Mar to avoid confusion with another nearby building complex. The first plans for the community were approved in 1971.
In 1972, the company that owned Behring was sold. A new company, Leadership Housing, Incorporated, was formed. This company continued to develop Boca Del Mar. Construction really picked up speed in the 1980s, and many homes were built.

Boca Del Mar is located in Florida, at coordinates 26°20′42″N 80°8′48″W. It is about three miles southwest of the city of Boca Raton.
The community covers a total area of about 10.4 square kilometers (4.0 square miles). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside its borders.
