Bolívar is a town and municipality in the Cauca Department, Colombia. It was founded in October 1784 by a person named Domingo Belisario Gómez. This area covers about 746.3 square kilometers, which is a bit larger than a big city. Around 44,864 people live here, and most of them work in farming and raising animals.

Understanding Bolívar's Climate

Bolívar has a special type of weather called a tropical savanna climate. This means it's generally warm all year round, but it also has clear wet and dry seasons. The town is located at an elevation of about 1,777 meters (or 5,830 feet) above sea level. This high elevation helps to make the temperatures a bit milder than places closer to the coast.

Temperature and Sunshine in Bolívar

The average temperature in Bolívar stays pretty consistent throughout the year, usually around 21 to 22 degrees Celsius (about 70-72 degrees Fahrenheit). The hottest months are usually July and August, while November and December are a bit cooler. Even on the coolest days, it's still quite warm. The town gets a good amount of sunshine, especially from June to August, which are also the drier months.

Rainfall and Humidity in Bolívar

Bolívar experiences a lot of rain, especially from October to April. The wettest months are usually October and November, with over 250 millimeters (about 10 inches) of rain each. The driest months are July and August. Because of all the rain, the air in Bolívar is often quite humid, especially during the rainy seasons. This climate is perfect for the farming activities that many people in Bolívar do.
