St Paul's Jelly by Bompas & Parr
A special jelly artwork by Bompas & Parr

Bompas & Parr is a creative company started in June 2007 by Sam Bompas and Harry Parr. They are famous for making amazing food art, especially using gelatin desserts, which many people call jellies. The company uses special moulds to create edible designs that look like buildings and other cool structures. They named their company after an old food company.

Bompas & Parr are known for their detailed work. They have even entered food art competitions, like the Architectural Jelly Design Competition at the London Festival of Architecture. The company believes their projects show how the taste of food can change based on things like how it's presented or the setting. They focus on jelly because it's a great material for exploring ideas about food and architecture. Jelly is easy to shape and has a long history in exploring different tastes.

Cool Projects and Creations

Bompas & Parr have worked on many interesting projects.

Sound of Jelly

They even claim to be the first group to ever record the sound of jelly wobbling! This shows how much they explore every part of their food art.

Creative Food Experiences

  • They created a special chewing gum, inspired by Willy Wonka, that changed flavour as you chewed it.
  • For a special event in July 2011, Bompas & Parr designed a public art display on the roof of Selfridges, Oxford Street. This was the first time the roof was open to the public since World War II. They built a rowing lake there and dyed the water green!

Scratch and Sniff Film

As part of the London 2012 Open Weekend, Bompas & Parr created scratch and sniff cards. These cards went with a special outdoor showing of the film Gregory's Girl in Edinburgh on July 26, 2009. This was likely the first outdoor scratch and sniff movie experience in the UK. During the film, a mysterious penguin appeared in the crowd, holding a sign telling everyone when to scratch and sniff their cards.
