Bona Mansio Island (which is ostrov Bona Mansio in Bulgarian) is an island covered in ice. It stretches about 750 meters (2,460 feet) from east to west and 635 meters (2,083 feet) from south to north. You can find this island in a water channel called Papazov Passage, which is part of the Biscoe Islands in Antarctica.
The island is separated from the west coast of Krogh Island by a passage that is about 700 meters (2,296 feet) long. At some points, this passage becomes very narrow, only about 50 meters (164 feet) wide. Bona Mansio Island covers an area of 30 hectares (about 74 acres). This island was formed when the ice cap on Krogh Island melted and moved back around the year 2000.
The island gets its name from an old Roman "road station" called Bona Mansio. This station was a place where travelers could stop and rest along ancient Roman roads in Southern Bulgaria.
