Bonanza Hills first appeared as a census designated place before the 2010 U.S. Census. It was one of four new CDPs created from parts of the Botines CDP. The other new CDPs were Four Points, Los Veteranos II, and Sunset Acres.
In 2010, the population of Bonanza Hills was 37 people. By 2020, the population had grown to 61 people. Most of the people living in Bonanza Hills are of Hispanic or Latino background.
