The Books Council of Wales (which is Cyngor Llyfrau Cymru in Welsh) is an organisation that helps promote books and reading in Wales. It used to be called the Welsh Books Council. It was started in 1961 and gets its money from the Welsh Government.

Where is the Council Located?

The main office for the Books Council of Wales is in Aberystwyth. It's in a building that used to be St Mary's College in an area called Castell Brychan.

They also have a big building outside of town called the Glanyrafon Enterprise Park. This is where they send out books to different places. About 40 people work for the Council in these two locations. The centre that sends out books handles about £3 million worth of books each year.

Who Leads the Council?

From 1965 to 1987, Alun Creunant Davies was the director of the Council. Today, the Chief Executive, who is like the main leader, is Helgard Krause.
