Marvis Linwood "Bootsy" Thornton III, born on July 30, 1977, is an American who used to play professional basketball. He is known by his nickname "Bootsy".
After finishing college at St. John's University, Bootsy Thornton moved to Italy. There, he became a well-known player over the next ten years. His most successful time was with the team Montepaschi Siena. He played for them three different times. During these years, he helped his team win many national championships. In 2008, he was even chosen for the All-EuroLeague Second Team, which is a big honor in European basketball.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Bootsy Thornton grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He played basketball at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. This is where he started to show his skills on the court.
College Basketball Career
Bootsy Thornton played college basketball for the St. John's Red Storm team. He is remembered for an amazing game on January 24, 1999. In that game against Duke, he scored 40 points. He also made seven three-point shots, which is a lot for one game!
Professional Basketball Journey
Bootsy Thornton was a very flexible player, often playing as a shooting guard. He was recognized as one of the best players in Europe. In the 2007–08 season, he was named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team. This shows he was one of the top players in the EuroLeague, a major basketball league in Europe.
On August 8, 2012, Thornton signed with a team called Dinamo Sassari. Later, on December 25, 2013, he joined Strasbourg IG for the rest of that season. He played professional basketball until 2014.
