Boquerón is a small village in Cuba. It is part of the Caimanera municipality. You can find it in the Guantánamo Province. The village is very close to Guantánamo Bay. People sometimes call it Mártires de la Frontera, which means "Martyrs of the Border" in Spanish.

History of Boquerón
The village of Boquerón was started in 1903. It began to grow and develop more in the 1970s.
Geography of Boquerón
Boquerón is located on the eastern side of Guantánamo Bay. It is the closest Cuban village to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, which is a United States military base.
Border Crossing Point
The North East Gate is about 4 kilometers (2 miles) from Boquerón. This gate is the only place where people can cross the border between the US and Cuba in this area.
Special Permission to Visit
Because Boquerón is so close to the US Base, it is considered a forbidden town. This means that you need to get special permission from the Cuban government to visit it. The nearby town of Caimanera also has this rule.
Nearby Islands and Towns
Boquerón faces three small islands in the bay. These islands are called Cayo Piedra, Cayo Ramón, and Cayo Redondo. The village is about 12 kilometers (7 miles) from Caimanera. It is also about 28 kilometers (18 miles) from the city of Guantánamo.
Transport in Boquerón
Boquerón has a small port. It is also the end point for a small railway line that comes from Guantánamo city. A road called "Carretera a Boquerón" connects the village to the main Cuban highway, the Carretera Central. This highway is about 11 kilometers (7 miles) away. The closest airport is the "Mariana Grajales" Airport in Guantánamo. It is about 28 kilometers (18 miles) north of Boquerón.
