Boris Buzančić (born 13 March 1929 – died 9 October 2014) was a famous Croatian actor and politician. He was the 47th Mayor of Zagreb from 1990 to 1993.

Boris Buzančić was born in Bjelovar. He started acting when he was very young. He appeared in many movies and TV shows. He was especially good at playing strong, important characters, often in movies about World War II. But one of his most famous roles was the clever mayor of Split, Dotur Vice, in the popular TV show Velo misto.

From Actor to Mayor

In 1990, Boris Buzančić became a mayor in real life. This happened after the first elections in Croatia where more than one political party could run. He supported the Croatian Democratic Union party.

He was chosen as the mayor of Zagreb, which is the capital city of Croatia. He held this job for two years. In 1992, he was elected to the Croatian Parliament, which is like the country's main law-making body.

Later Life and Legacy

After 1995, Boris Buzančić went back to acting. He played roles in two notable productions. In 1999, he was in the comedy Marshal Tito's Spirit (called Maršal in Croatian). In 2002, he acted in the TV series Promised Land (Obećana zemlja). These roles were inspired by real historical figures.

Boris Buzančić passed away on 9 October 2014, at the age of 85. He had been ill for a long time. He is remembered for his acting talent and his time as mayor.
