Boris Dvornik (pronounced [bôːris dʋôːrnik]; 16 April 1939 – 24 March 2008) was a very famous Croatian actor. He was born in Split and became known for his many roles in movies and TV shows. He was one of the biggest stars in the cinema of former Yugoslavia.

Early Life and Acting Start
Boris Dvornik was born in Split, Croatia. His father worked as a carpenter. Boris showed a talent for acting when he was very young. He loved performing in children's plays.
Even though he first studied to become an electrician, Boris decided to follow his dream of acting. He went to acting schools in Novi Sad and later in Zagreb.
Becoming a Star
In 1960, when he was still a student, Boris got a main role in the drama film The Ninth Circle. This movie was about the Holocaust. Just one year later, he showed how good he was at different types of acting. He appeared in the popular comedy Martin in the Clouds.
These early roles helped Boris Dvornik become a big star in the movies of former Yugoslavia. People often compared him to other famous actors like Ljubiša Samardžić and Milena Dravić. He even became close friends with another well-known actor, Bata Živojinović.
Peak Popularity and Later Career
Boris Dvornik was most popular in the 1970s. He played the character Roko Prč in the very popular TV series Naše malo misto. This show was a big hit.
In the 1980s, Boris was known as one of the most talented and busy actors in former Yugoslavia. During this time, he mostly worked with the Croatian National Theatre in his hometown of Split.
Boris Dvornik also tried a bit of politics. He was elected to parliament in 1992. However, he soon realized that politics was not for him. He resigned from his position just one month later.
Family and Legacy
Boris Dvornik married Diana Tomić in 1962. They had two sons, Dean and Dino. His younger son, Dino, also became a famous musician. Sadly, Dino passed away a few months after Boris.
Boris Dvornik died in Split on March 24, 2008. He was 68 years old. He was buried in Lovrinac Cemetery in his hometown. He is remembered as a great actor who brought many characters to life on screen and stage.
