Starting His Senior Career
Borja began his professional career with Racing Santander's reserve team. This was in the 2009–10 season, playing in a league called Segunda División B. Reserve teams are like a stepping stone for young players to get ready for the main team.
Playing in La Liga
On August 27, 2011, Borja made his big debut for the main Racing Santander team. This was in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league! He played for the last 21 minutes in a match against Valencia CF. Even though his team lost that game, it was a huge step for him to play at such a high level. He continued to play mostly for the reserve team until 2013.
Moving to New Teams
After leaving Racing Santander, Borja joined SCR Peña Deportiva in October 2013. This team played in the Tercera División, which is another Spanish league. A few months later, in January 2014, he moved to Ontinyent CF. This club was also in the third division of Spanish football.

These included two different times with UD Logroñés, then Lorca FC, Extremadura UD, and Recreativo de Huelva. He gained a lot of experience playing for these clubs.
