Boursin is a super creamy and delicious cheese. It's soft, like cream cheese, and comes in many different flavors. It's a popular choice for snacks and parties!
A clever cheesemaker named François Boursin created Boursin cheese in 1957. He was from Normandy, France. He got the idea from a traditional French party food. At parties, people would often add their own herbs to fresh cheese to make it taste better. François decided to do this for them! His first flavor, Garlic and Fine Herbs, became a big hit. It was the first flavored cheese product sold all over France.
Boursin cheese was first made in Normandy. For a long time, it was only produced in a town called Croisy-sur-Eure, France. In 1990, a big company called Unilever bought the Boursin brand. Later, in 2007, another company called Groupe Bel bought it from Unilever.
Boursin on TV
Boursin cheese started showing up in TV commercials in France on October 1, 1968. This was when French television first allowed ads! In 1972, they launched a very famous slogan: "Du pain, du vin, du Boursin." This means "Some bread, some wine, some Boursin" in English. Later, the slogan changed to "Du pain, du Boursin, on est bien," which means "Some bread, some Boursin, we are good."
