Bowlusville, Ohio facts for kids
Bowlusville is a small place in Ohio, in a part of the state called Champaign County. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a town might. Instead, it's usually managed by the larger county government.
History of Bowlusville
Bowlusville got its start a long time ago, in 1863. A man named Samuel H. Bowlus planned out the community, deciding where streets and lots would go. This process is called 'platting' a town. The community was then named after him.
Before it was even officially platted, Bowlusville had a post office that opened in 1861. A post office is where people can send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1920.
