Bracken is a small, quiet place in Webster County, Missouri. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
Where is Bracken Located?
Bracken is found in the beautiful state of Missouri, right in Webster County. If you're looking at a map, it's about six miles east of a bigger town called Marshfield. You can find Bracken right along Missouri Route DD. To the northeast of the community, you'll find the very beginning of Bracken Creek, which is where the community gets its name.
Bracken's History
Bracken once had its own post office! It was opened in 1877, which was a long time ago. People in the community could send and receive their mail there. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1906. The community and the creek both share the name "Bracken."
