Early Career at Collingwood
After his first year, Brad faced a challenge. He got a knee injury during a practice match before the 2008 season. This meant he had to miss the entire year of playing. It was a tough time for him, but he worked hard to recover.
Becoming a Rising Star
In 2009, Brad made a strong comeback. He was even nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star award. This award celebrates young players who show great talent. He earned this nomination after an amazing game where he scored five goals against the Melbourne Demons. In another game, he also had a career-high 25 disposals. This means he got the ball 25 times, showing his skill and involvement in the game.
Facing Challenges and New Teams
Brad continued to face challenges with injuries. In 2010, a shoulder injury kept him from playing for a while. He only managed to play two games before needing surgery on his shoulder. This ended his season early. He still managed to kick four goals in one of those games.
In 2011, Brad found it hard to get consistent game time due to more injuries. At the end of that season, Collingwood decided not to keep him on their team. Brad then moved back to his home state of Western Australia. He hoped to restart his AFL career there. The West Coast Eagles picked him in the rookie draft, giving him a new chance.
Retirement from AFL
Even with the new opportunity at the West Coast Eagles, Brad did not play any games for them. He announced his retirement from professional football at the end of the 2013 season. Brad Dick's career showed his talent and determination, even when facing tough injuries.
