Braeholm is a small community in Logan County, West Virginia, in the United States. It is a place that does not have its own local government. Instead, it is part of a larger area called Amherstdale.
Where is Braeholm?
Braeholm is located in the southwestern part of West Virginia. It sits along a road called County Route 16. The community is also next to a stream known as Buffalo Creek. It is about 3.9 miles (6.3 km) northeast of a town called Man.
The Buffalo Creek Flood
Braeholm was greatly affected by a very sad event called the Buffalo Creek flood. This happened in 1972. A coal waste dam broke, sending a huge wave of water down the valley. This natural disaster caused a lot of damage to homes and buildings. It also deeply impacted many families in the area. The flood is an important part of Braeholm's history.
