What Braemar Hospital Does
Braemar Hospital is located on Ohaupo Road in Melville. Each year, doctors at the hospital perform about 10,000 surgeries and medical treatments. In 2014, the hospital started a special service. This service helps check for bowel cancer early.
Hospital Features
In 2015, Braemar Hospital had 85 beds for patients. It also had eight operating rooms for surgeries. There were two special units for endoscopy procedures. Endoscopy uses a thin tube with a camera to look inside the body.
Braemar Hospital was the first private hospital in New Zealand to offer endoscopic ultrasound. This is a special way to see inside the body using sound waves. It was also the first hospital in Australia and New Zealand to use super clear imaging tools in its operating rooms. These tools helped doctors do more keyhole surgeries. Keyhole surgery uses very small cuts, which helps patients heal faster.
Hospital Costs and Charity Work
The hospital says that its fees are fair. Any extra money it earns goes back into the hospital. This money also helps with charity work. For example, the hospital provides free surgeries. It also supports doctors and nurses with training and education.
Hospital Growth and Plans
In 2015, Braemar Hospital started a big plan to expand. This plan cost about $20 million. The expansion was needed because more older people needed orthopaedic surgery. Orthopaedic surgery helps fix bones and joints.
Hospital Facilities
Braemar Hospital has 85 beds for patients. These beds are spread across its different hospital areas.
