Brains is a super smart character from the British TV show Thunderbirds. This show first came out in the mid-1960s. Brains also appears in the movies Thunderbirds Are Go (1966) and Thunderbird 6 (1968). He was even in a live-action movie in 2004 called Thunderbirds.

In the original TV show and first two movies, Brains was a puppet. His voice was done by David Graham. For the 2004 live-action film, Anthony Edwards played him. In the newer cartoon series Thunderbirds Are Go (which started in 2015), Kayvan Novak is the voice of Brains.

Who is Brains?

Brains was born on November 14, either in 2001 or 2040. He was born in Michigan, United States. When he was 12, he became an orphan. This means his family passed away.

Later, a professor at the University of Cambridge adopted him. He was then discovered by Jeff Tracy. Jeff Tracy is the person who started International Rescue. He found Brains while Brains was giving a lecture in Paris.

Brains' Amazing Inventions

Brains is a very intelligent engineer and designer. He is thought to be 50 years ahead of his time. Many people believe he is the best aircraft designer in the world.

He is a very important member of International Rescue. Sometimes he can be a bit shy or very focused on his work. He designed all the amazing Thunderbird vehicles. He also created other machines and buildings for the team.

Brains loves to invent things in his free time. Once, he built a robot that could play chess. This robot was named Braman. It even helped as a backup computer in an episode called "Sun Probe". Brains' special skills are sometimes needed on rescue missions. When this happens, he usually goes with the Tracy brothers in Thunderbird 2.

Keeping Secrets: His Other Names

Sometimes, Brains designs vehicles for other groups. He does this as a freelance engineer. He designed Skythrust in the episode "Alias Mr. Hackenbacker". He also designed Skyship One for the movie Thunderbird 6.

These projects are kept very secret. This helps to protect International Rescue's identity. Brains uses different names to keep his real identity hidden. For example, he used the name "Hiram K. Hackenbacker" for the Skythrust project. The people who ordered Skyship One only knew him as "Mr X".

In the 2004 movie, his real name is Ray Hackenbacker. But in the 2015 TV show Thunderbirds Are Go!, his real name is Hiram K. Hackenbacker.
