Brandan Parfitt, born on April 27, 1998, is a talented former Australian rules footballer. He played as a midfielder for the Geelong Football Club, a team in the top-level Australian Football League (AFL). He was known for his strong tackling and skill with the ball.

Growing Up in Darwin

Brandan grew up in Darwin, Northern Territory, a city in northern Australia. He is proud of his Indigenous Australian heritage, belonging to the Larrakia and Warumungu groups. From a young age, Brandan loved playing football. He spent many years playing junior footy for the Nightcliff Football Club in Darwin.

Brandan's AFL Journey

Getting Drafted by Geelong

Brandan's talent was noticed by AFL clubs. In the 2016 national draft, the Geelong Football Club chose him with their first pick, which was the 26th pick overall. This meant he would move to Geelong to start his professional football career.

First Game and Rising Star

Brandan made his AFL debut in the very first game of the 2017 season. His team, Geelong, played against Fremantle at Domain Stadium and won by 42 points. After just his third game, Brandan was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award. This award celebrates the best young players in the league. He earned the nomination for his great performance against Melbourne, where he had 23 disposals (times he got the ball) and made five tackles.

Playing in Grand Finals

Brandan was an important part of the Geelong team that reached the 2020 AFL Grand Final. They played against Richmond in the big game. Even though he broke his thumb during the first quarter, Brandan bravely kept playing for the rest of the match.

In August 2022, Brandan signed a new contract to stay with Geelong until the end of the 2024 season. He was chosen as the "tactical substitute" for the 2022 AFL Grand Final. This meant he started the game on the bench but could come on to play if a teammate needed a break or got injured. Brandan came onto the field in the last quarter and quickly kicked a goal, helping Geelong win the premiership!

Moving On from Geelong

After the 2024 AFL season, Brandan Parfitt was delisted by the Geelong Football Club. This means he is no longer playing for the team.
