His Early Life
Brandan Parfitt grew up in Darwin, which is in the Northern Territory of Australia. He is an Indigenous Australian. His heritage comes from the Larrakia and Warumungu groups. Brandan started playing junior football at the Nightcliff Football Club in Darwin.
Playing in the AFL
Brandan was chosen by the Geelong Football Club in the 2016 national draft. He was their first pick and the 26th player chosen overall. He played his first game in 2017. Geelong won that game against the Fremantle Dockers by 42 points. The match took place at Domain Stadium.
Becoming a Rising Star
After playing only three games, Brandan was nominated for the Rising Star award. This award is for young players who show great talent. He earned this nomination in round three for his excellent performance. In that game, he had 23 disposals (times he got the ball) and made five tackles. Geelong won that game against Melbourne by 29 points.
Grand Final Moments
In 2020, Brandan was part of the Geelong team that played in the 2020 AFL Grand Final. He started the game on the bench. It was later found out that he played the whole game with a broken thumb. He got this injury during the first part of the match.
In August 2022, Brandan signed a new contract. This meant he would stay with Geelong until the end of the 2024 season. He was a special substitute player in the 2022 AFL Grand Final. He came into the game in the last quarter. Almost immediately after joining, he kicked a goal. Geelong won the Grand Final that year.
End of His Playing Career
Brandan Parfitt finished his time with Geelong at the end of the 2024 AFL season. He played 130 games and kicked 48 goals for the club.
