About Brandon Curry
Early Life and Inspiration
Brandon Curry grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. His journey into bodybuilding started very early. When he was just six years old, he received Hulk Hogan dumbbells for his birthday! He was inspired by superheroes like G.I. Joe. Movies like Rocky and Rambo also motivated him. He wanted to develop his body to be as strong as possible.
As a child, Brandon took gymnastics classes. He also played wrestling, track and field, and football. He played these sports while attending Hunters Lane Comprehensive High School.
College and Career Path
Brandon went to Middle Tennessee State University. He studied exercise science there. He first played on the university's football team. Later, he decided to focus on weight training for bodybuilding.
Outside of his bodybuilding career, Brandon Curry works as a personal trainer. He lives in both Nashville, Tennessee, and Oceanside, California.
Becoming a Professional Bodybuilder
Brandon Curry entered his first bodybuilding contest in 2000. He was only 19 years old. He won both the beginner's title and the overall competition. In 2003, he won the Supernatural Bodybuilding Show.
He continued to compete and improve. In 2006, he placed second in a national competition. He weighed 189 pounds then. By 2007, he had gained more muscle. He moved up to the heavyweight division. He placed second in two more national shows that year.
On July 25, 2008, Brandon won the NPC USA Championships. He won both the heavyweight division and the overall title. This win made him a professional bodybuilder.
Major Achievements
Winning the Arnold Classic
In 2019, Brandon Curry won the Arnold Classic. This is a very important bodybuilding competition. Winning it showed that he was one of the best bodybuilders in the world.
Becoming Mr. Olympia
Later in 2019, Brandon achieved his biggest dream. He won the Mr. Olympia competition! This is the most prestigious title in professional bodybuilding. He first competed at Mr. Olympia in 2011, placing 8th. After his 2019 win, he continued to place very high in the competition. He finished 2nd in both 2020 and 2021. He placed 4th in 2022 and 2023. In 2024, he placed 9th.
