Brendan Walsh facts for kids
Brendan Walsh, born in 1959, is a famous American chef. He is known for his delicious Southwestern-style cooking. He was the first chef at a restaurant called Arizona 206 in New York City. He even won a special award called the "Who's Who of Cooking in America" from the James Beard Foundation. Today, he helps lead the School of Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of America.
Growing Up
Brendan Walsh grew up in a part of New York City called the Bronx. Later, his family moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut. He went to Ridgefield High School there.
Chef's Journey
Brendan Walsh finished his studies at the the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, in 1980. After that, he moved to Los Angeles. He then worked at a well-known restaurant called Stars in San Francisco.
Back to New York
Later, Chef Walsh returned to New York City. He became the main chef, or executive chef, at Arizona 206. His work there was so good that he was featured in magazines like Food & Wine and USA Today.
In 1989, he worked as a consulting chef for a place called Wet Paint. From 1990 to 1991, he was the chef at the Coyote Grill in Island Park. Then, from 1991 to 1993, he was both a co-owner and chef at the North Street Grill in Great Neck.
Connecticut Restaurant
In 1996, Brendan Walsh moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut. There, he opened his own restaurant called the Elms Restaurant and Tavern. It is now known as Brendan's at the Elms. This restaurant was even shown on a special Thanksgiving TV show with Martha Stewart.
