Why is he called "Polly"?
Brendon has a cool nickname: "Polly." He got this name because of how he plays. He can handball the ball (pass it by hand) over unusually long distances. This skill reminded people of a famous player named Graham "Polly" Farmer. Farmer was known for his amazing handballs too!
Brendon's AFL Journey
Brendon Ah Chee started his professional football career after being chosen in the 2011 AFL draft. This is like a special event where teams pick new players. He was picked by the Port Adelaide Power.
Starting at Port Adelaide
Brendon joined Port Adelaide in 2012. For a few years, he played in a league called the SANFL. This league is a step below the AFL. He worked hard to show his skills.
In 2015, Brendon finally got his chance to play in the AFL. He made his debut in a game against North Melbourne. He started the game as a "substitute" player. This means he came onto the field later in the game. He made a big impact right away! He helped set up the winning goal with one of his famous long handballs.
Brendon played 10 more games that season. He started to become a key player for Port Adelaide. In one game, he got the ball 24 times and kicked 3 goals. He even earned 3 votes for the Brownlow Medal. This medal is given to the best player in the AFL each year. His mix of strength, speed, and great handballs made him a valuable player.
Moving to West Coast Eagles
After the 2017 season, Brendon decided he wanted to move to a new team. He felt he needed more chances to play at the AFL level. He asked to be "traded" to another club. A trade is when teams swap players. Brendon chose the West Coast Eagles as the team he wanted to join. In October 2017, he officially moved to the West Coast Eagles. He played for them until 2021.
What is Brendon Doing Now?
After his time in the AFL, Brendon Ah Chee returned to play for South Fremantle. This is the same club he played for before he joined the AFL. He now plays in the WAFL.
