Callum Ah Chee (born October 9, 1997) is a talented Australian rules footballer. He plays for the Brisbane Lions in Australia's top football league, the Australian Football League (AFL). He is known for his skills as both a forward and a midfielder.

Growing Up and Early Footy

Callum Ah Chee was born in Derby, Western Australia. This is a town in Western Australia. When he was three years old, his family moved to Armadale, a suburb of Perth. Callum's family has a rich background. His mother has Indigenous Australian (Nyoongar) and Dutch heritage. His father has Indigenous Australian (Nyikina & Yawuru) and Chinese roots.

Callum's older brother, Brendon Ah Chee, also became a professional Australian rules footballer. Brendon played for the West Coast Eagles and Port Adelaide Power.

When he was younger, Callum first played basketball. Later, he started playing Australian rules football. He played for the Kelmscott Junior Football Club. He also played for South Fremantle. He began playing in the junior league (called "colts football") in 2013. When he was 17, he played his first senior game for South Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). He also represented Western Australia in big junior tournaments in 2014 and 2015. These tournaments help find future AFL stars.

AFL Career Journey

Callum Ah Chee was chosen by the Gold Coast Football Club in the 2015 national draft. This was a big moment, as he was the eighth player picked overall. He played for the Gold Coast Suns for four seasons.

At the end of the 2019 AFL season, Callum moved to the Brisbane Lions. This was a trade between the two clubs. He quickly became an important player for the Lions.

In the 2023 AFL Grand Final, Callum had a tough game. However, he bounced back strongly in 2024. He took on a key role as a forward player. He scored 10 goals during the finals series that year. Callum was a vital part of the Brisbane Lions team that won the 2024 AFL Grand Final. He kicked four goals in the Grand Final match. He also finished third in the voting for the Norm Smith Medal. This award goes to the best player in the Grand Final.
