Brevator, Missouri facts for kids
Brevator is a small, unincorporated community located in Lincoln County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
History
Brevator was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1880. This process is called "platting," which means dividing land into smaller plots for building. The community was named after John Brevator, who owned the land where the community was created. A post office was opened in Brevator in 1880, helping people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years until it closed down in 1932.
