Brian Caswell (born 13 January 1954) is an Australian author. He writes books mainly for young people, often called young adult fiction.
About Brian Caswell
Brian Caswell was born in a small village in Wales on January 13, 1954. When he was five, his family moved to England. Then, in 1966, when Brian was 12, they moved all the way to Australia.
He went to the University of NSW. There, he earned degrees in arts and education. In the 1970s, Brian was a singer and songwriter. He was quite successful, with one song reaching the top 40 music charts. Another song even won a 'Golden Guitar' award.
In 1976, Brian became a school teacher. He stopped performing music but kept writing songs. He taught at several high schools for 15 years. His main subjects were history, English, and creative writing. He also coached basketball.
Brian started writing books for his students. His first book, Merryll of the Stones, came out in 1989. After his first two books were successful, he stopped teaching. He then became a full-time writer. In 1995, he won the Children's Peace Literature Award for his book, Deucalion.
Brian Caswell lives in Fountaindale, New South Wales, with his wife, Marlene.
Working with MindChamps
In 1998, Brian started working with his friend, David Chiem. They created a company called MindChamps. This company studies how our brains learn. They also create fun ways to help people learn better in the 21st century.
Brian has been a teacher, author, and coach for 45 years. He is now the Dean of Research and Programme Development at MindChamps. Since 1998, Brian and David have worked with many young people. They have also trained thousands of parents and teachers. Their goal is to help make a positive difference in children's lives. Brian has written five books for parents and teachers. These books are about education and how the mind learns.
