Brian Geoffrey Hutton (born January 1, 1935 – died August 19, 2014) was an American actor and film director. He was best known for directing exciting action movies like Where Eagles Dare (1968) and Kelly's Heroes (1970).

Brian Hutton's Acting Days
Brian Hutton was born in New York City. He learned acting at a famous school called the Actors Studio. He acted for a short time between 1954 and 1962.
He appeared in TV shows like Gunsmoke in 1956. He played a young gunslinger in "The Rifleman." He also appeared twice on Perry Mason in 1957. His last TV acting role was in the series Archer in 1975.
In 1958, Hutton played a young gunfighter in the western show Sugarfoot. The next year, he was in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He also played twins in an episode of Have Gun Will Travel.
Becoming a Film Director
Brian Hutton started directing movies in 1965. His first film as a director was Wild Seed.
His first movie for a big studio was The Pad and How to Use It (1966). He filmed it very quickly, in just 19 days.
Hutton then directed Sol Madrid (1967). After that, he was chosen to direct Where Eagles Dare. This action movie starred famous actors Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. It became a huge success.
Because Where Eagles Dare was so popular, the studio hired Hutton again. He directed Clint Eastwood in another action movie, Kelly's Heroes.
He also directed actress Elizabeth Taylor in two movies: Zee and Co. (1972) and Night Watch (1973).
Taking a Break from Directing
After Night Watch came out in 1973, Hutton stopped making films for seven years. He had lost his excitement for directing movies.
Returning to Filmmaking
He came back to directing when he was asked to help with a movie called The First Deadly Sin (1980). This film starred Frank Sinatra. After that, Hutton directed High Road to China (1983), which starred Tom Selleck.
Brian Hutton stopped making films completely in the 1980s. He then started working in real estate. He passed away in Los Angeles, California, on August 19, 2014. He was 79 years old and died a week after having a heart attack. His wife survived him.
