Brianna's Amazing Career

Early Career and First Wins
In 2012, Brianna competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials. She finished sixth in the 100 meters hurdles. This meant she did not make the Olympic team that year. However, she won a gold medal later that year. This was at the 2012 NACAC Under-23 Championships in Athletics.
In 2013, Brianna set a new American record. She ran the 100 meters hurdles in 12.26 seconds. This was faster than the old record. Later that year, she won the World Championships in Moscow. She beat the Olympic champion, Sally Pearson. Brianna won the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Athlete of the Year Award for her great performance in 2013.
Olympic Gold and Team USA
In 2016, Brianna won the 60 meters hurdles at the U.S. Indoor Championships. She also earned a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships.
Brianna then qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. She won the gold medal in the 100 meters hurdles. Her teammates, Kristi Castlin and Nia Ali, won silver and bronze. This was a historic moment. It was the first time one country won all three medals in this event at the Olympics. It was also the first time American women achieved such a sweep in any Olympic event.
Challenges and Return to Competition
After her Olympic win, Brianna faced some challenges. In 2016, she was not allowed to compete for a year. This was due to issues with anti-doping rules. Athletes must report their location for drug testing. Brianna had problems with this reporting three times. Because of this, some of her results from late 2016 were canceled. She also could not compete in the 2017 World Championships.
In 2019, Brianna returned to competition. She finished third at the U.S. Track & Field Outdoor Championships. This qualified her for the World Championships in Doha. However, she was disqualified from the 100m hurdles there due to a false start.
In 2021, Brianna faced more issues with anti-doping rules. She was suspended from competing for five years. This meant she could not participate in the 2020 or 2024 Summer Olympics. Her ban is set to end in August 2025.
