History
Briarcliff started as a quiet community for retired people. It was built near Lake Norfork after the Norfork Dam was finished. At first, it was not an official town.
In 1997, the people living there voted to make it an official town. Then, in 2000, they voted again. This time, they decided to make Briarcliff a "second-class city." This helped them set up their own local government.
Geography
Briarcliff is located in Arkansas. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 4.7 square kilometers (1.8 square miles) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.
